Google AdSense Success Story-3

An old story that is pertinent for this add to my ' Google AdSense Success Story series', goes thus.

A renowned 'Shoes Company' sent to Tibet, two Trainee
Salesmen
for 'market-survey' to Launch it's products there.
A week's time was given.

On the first day of their arrival at Tibet, one Salesman
sent a Telegram
to the company, "There is
'No Market for Shoes Here', as 'No One Wears Shoes Here',"

and took his journey back.

The other Salesman 'persevered and persisted' in his survey,
regularly reported his experiences to his higher-ups. Finally, on the pen-ultimate day of the week, sent a telegram,

"Elated ! 'A Huge Market For Our Shoes Here' as 'No One Wears Shoes Here'."

Not surprisingly, the latter Salesman got confirmed with a feather on his cap.

The moral of the story !

'Positive Perception and Perseverance' always clicks.

Tracking back to the context with which I begun, we in India have only 3% Internet Users and almost 80% of them mostly constitute of youth who surf Internet mainly for 'chatting' and hardly for Blogs.

So what's the 'Market Boundary' for 'Google AdSense' in India !

Huge, 'without any semblance of doubt' !!

Are you all ready to grab your share !!!

Then posted here is this, 'Google AdSense Case Study' , for you all, to take a leaf out of.

Medical Coding.Net found greater clickthrough and conversion with Google. Case study : Medical Coding.Net : www.medical-coding.net

Entrepreneur Darren Carter, M.D. created a company in 2001 to sell software and other products for medical coding and billing processes, an increasingly important task for medical practices of all kinds. His company, Medical Coding.Net, is today a wholly owned subsidiary of Provistas, Inc., which provides Medicare compliance solutions to hospital and physician-practice clients. Medical Coding.Net receives a qualified professional audience of about 500 unique visitors each day.

Challenge

"In my industry, people are out looking for a variety of services and products," says Dr. Carter. In order to grow his e-commerce business, his online marketing strategy now includes Google AdWords to drive traffic to Medical Coding.Net; Froogle to increase visibility and gain customers for his specialty software; and AdSense (AdWords ads on content pages).

He intends to leverage this combination of all three Google programs in order to gain traffic, clicks and buyers.

Results

"AdWords sends qualified leads my way," says Dr. Carter. "We get cost-effective visibility that's tied to very specialized keyword searches through our AdWords program.” For those visitors "who don't find what they need from the products on my site,” he adds, "the AdSense program, which enables Google ads on other sites, seems to offer them what they need." says Dr. Carter.

He also notes that enabling these "unobtrusive" ads "took only a few minutes to put up. It was very easy to add the code." The ads now appear for nearly 100 percent of the site's pages.

While he was initially concerned that ads on his discussion forums would not be well-targeted due to the dynamic nature of those pages, Dr. Carter says he is "very pleasantly surprised" at how well targeted they are. "Every ad that shows is a complement to my site," he says, "and I'm getting high quality traffic." He also takes advantage of ad blocking, noting that even in this highly specialized arena there are enough suitable ads after he blocks direct competitors.

Regarding Froogle, Dr. Carter says, "This free merchant program is a great way to become visible for a specialized product category." He sends an XML feed for Froogle to upload whenever he has new pricing, sales promotions, or new products. "It's incredibly easy way for us to be branded in a big e-commerce channel, and we see customers who would not have found us otherwise."

For all of his efforts, Dr. Carter is seeing a healthy five-figure return on his advertising investment. He also reports that AdSense revenue more than offsets his AdWords expenditure: "In fact, we have reduced our overall ad budget," he says. What's more, he reports a consistent and healthy 3.6 percent clickthrough rate. Overall, Dr. Carter concludes that " All of Google advertising has had a very favorable impact on my business."

Google AdSense Success Story-2

This is continuum to my series, Google AdSense Success Story, aspired to be an 'aid', to my fellow 'blogosphere' community friends to join AdSense and pursue their 'Success' and 'Who Knows', may be their 'Success Story', honour them to dawn a place as another 'Google AdSense Case Study' like the following one !
=========================================
Woot.com increased ad revenue more than 3x by optimizing with Google AdSense. Case Study: Woot, Inc. : www.woot.com

At first glance, the business proposition may seem dubious: sell a single different product each day, offer little to no customer service — and make fun of the products in the daily promotions. But Woot, Inc. does all of this, with great results.
The company's "one day, one deal" closeout site woot.com has garnered plenty of attention (and more than 300,000 registered customers) since launching in July 2004. Time magazine named the company one of the "50 Coolest Websites" in 2005. When woot.com posts its latest deal each day at midnight, Central Standard Time, customers flock to the site to buy the latest "Woot."

Challenge

Woot, Inc. began life as a wholesale distribution company in the early 1990s, selling a variety of products to retailers in large volume. Creative Director Dave Rutledge joined Woot, shortly after the creation, in July of 2004, of the woot.com retail site. The idea was to create a website where leftover products from the wholesale side could be sold directly to consumers. It didn't take long for the site to become popular.
Here's how a typical woot.com sale goes: At midnight, a new product is posted to the front page of the site with a photograph, creative description, product specifications and price. "Distributors send us some crazy, hyped-up information about the products they want to sell," Rutledge says. "Our visitors already know a lot of what we're selling isn't the newest, most advanced stuff on the market, so we throw out their copy and write our own, poking fun of the weaknesses." For example, a recent description of a wireless headphone system explained that "mere words cannot convince you that the A350 sounds great, too, so we won't try."
The product description is posted as a new entry on the Woot blog and as a new thread in its community forum. Typically customers then begin posting in the forum, discussing whether the price is right, asking if others have used the product, sharing previous experiences with the product or manufacturer, and pondering whether or not they will purchase this particular Woot.
If it's a popular item in particularly limited supply, it may sell out within hours, or even minutes. If not, or if it's a relatively expensive item, sales throughout the course of the day may be steady. Either way, visitors keep coming to the site, Rutledge says. If not for its advertising revenue, Woot.com would essentially stop making money when a product sells out.
Rutledge had previously participated in Google AdSenseTM with his own blog. "After that, it stuck in my head as the right way for this kind of thing to work," he says. Now AdSense provides supplemental income for woot.com while providing relevant information for the site's visitors.
"Our store's a little strange in that when we sell out of something, we don't sell anything else for the rest of the day," Rutledge explains. "In the forums, the early discussion is all about the product, finding reviews, comparing prices. After we sell out, you get people in saying 'Oh no, I waited too long' and asking about any similar products around. AdSense works great for both groups: early people can find other places to compare to, and later people who miss the deal can still find the product elsewhere through the Google ads."

Results

Ad Placement
After implementing AdSense on woot.com, the company worked on maximizing the effectiveness of the ads running on the site. Early on, Rutledge learned that he was missing out on what would become a key ad placement: at the bottom of individual blog post pages. Many of the site's users receive product updates via an RSS feed, which links to the daily Woot blog post.
Rutledge placed a 336 x 280-large rectangle ad unit below each post. He was surprised at the resulting increase in revenue. "I hardly ever have a reason to go to that individual blog post entry, so it hadn't occurred to me that people were viewing it," Rutledge says. "That implementation boosted our revenue from $40 a day to $150 a day. It now seems there are a ton of people who click this ad because it's what they see after reading the post."

Forum optimization
Another place Woot visitors go is the community forum. The site has a very outspoken following of deal-seeking visitors who chime in with product and pricing evaluations, comments about the overall Woot experience and plenty of non-Woot banter. Rutledge followed the six optimization tips for forums he read about on the Inside AdSense blog to improve his ad performance.

Site targeting
In true Woot form, the site site-targeted its own front page through its AdWords account. One such ad demonstrated the company's taste for the goofy as well as its enthusiasm for AdSense. It read:

Advertise on Woot
Site targeted campaign beats
sharp stick in eye

Most recently, Rutledge added a 250x250 square to the front page of Woot. "Our front page gets 5-10 times the hits of the other pages, but we knew the clicks would be low. When we heard about the site-targeted ads, it made sense to try. Now we have companies writing ads specifically for our users, with some even using a similar bluntly humorous style to draw their attention." The new adblock tripled Woot's ad revenue again. During Woot-offs, (48-72 hour stretches where Woot sells one item right after another, which triggers many front page impressions), daily revenue has been up to 10 times higher than prior to AdSense.

Sitemaps
Something else Woot has been able to take advantage of is Google Sitemaps. Rutledge has used the Site Overview feature to view statistics and error messages on Woot.com, and notes that "the extremely specific error messages helped us clear up a couple of configuration settings on the servers."

Better experience for users
While product sales are still their main source of revenue, Google ad revenue enables the Woot team to offer a better deal on a product than they would otherwise be able to. On the whole, though, Rutledge says the main benefit of AdSense has been providing users with relevant information. "You end up with somebody who's happy they came to woot.com, whether they bought something from us or through the ads," he says. "Even if people don't buy something from us the first few times they come, they seem to keep coming back."

Google AdSense Success Story-1

It's my pleasure to start my first of 'Google AdSense Case Study', as a new 'label', to invigorate my fellow friends of 'Blogosphere' community, those who have and more importantly for those who have't yet joined 'Google AdSense' community.

ScienceDaily.com earns 66% of revenue from AdSense programs. Case study : ScienceDaily magazine : www.sciencedaily.com

Major scientific breakthroughs from universities and research institutions used to be well-kept secrets, known only to top scientific journals. That is, until 1995, when Dan Hogan launched ScienceDaily magazine (http://www.sciencedaily.com/). Soon after Hogan began publishing daily news headlines and stories on topics such as science and technology, health, and the environment, he was inundated with requests from PR staffs at research organizations. They wanted to share their scientists' discoveries with the general public by posting press releases and news articles. Right from the start, Hogan's daily science news site was a hit.

Challenge

"Google provided great suggestions for ad format and placement, helping us optimize our results." Dan HoganOwner
To leverage his success in publishing, Hogan began searching for ways to garner advertising revenue. He tried a variety of online advertising networks but came away disappointed. "We tried other ad networks, but the ads weren't very targeted, so earnings were low," says Hogan.
This unsatisfying outcome led Hogan to explore contextual advertising in depth. He heard about Google AdSense on forums and Internet news sites and was interested because its sophisticated contextual matching seemed ideal for ScienceDaily.com, a content-rich site.Hogan tried Google AdSense for content, filtering ads for suitability based on reader feedback. A large segment of readers are young high school students preparing reports for science class, but other visitors vary. AdSense gives Hogan a high level of content control to ensure that ads are scientific and tasteful to appeal to a mix of readers.

Results

It was easy to get started, Hogan says, even with setting up sophisticated ad filtering, but the real value of AdSense was apparent once the ads began running. Using AdSense for content, Hogan matched his own site's color scheme and content, maintaining a presence as a serious science daily. "The ads really match our articles," he says. "For visitors, the AdSense ads are a useful extension of our content. That's what's great about Google AdSense—the ads are appealing and appropriate."
To add to this positive outcome, Hogan is making money. "All revenue for ScienceDaily comes from online advertising, with AdSense generating 66 percent of total revenue." In addition, the effectiveness of Hogan's cost-per-click ads on AdSense is four to five times that of the other ad networks.

"The ads really match our articles. For visitors, the AdSense ads are a useful extension of our content. That's what's great about Google AdSense – the ads are appealing and appropriate." =Dan HoganOwner=

Once money started rolling in, Hogan began looking for ways to optimize the performance of Google ads on his site. Based on Google's recommendations and his own testing, he moved ads from the bottom of pages to the directly below articles. Average eCPM immediately jumped by 10 percent. "Google provided great suggestions for ad format and placement, helping us optimize our results," says Hogan.
In terms of AdSense features, Hogan appreciates the ability to block competitors' ads, change ad formats and colors to more closely match ScienceDaily.com, and access reporting features that enable him to stay in touch with where he's earning more and adjust his strategies accordingly.
Impressed with the initial results of AdSense for content, Hogan recently augmented his efforts by adding AdSense for search, another variety of AdSense that enables publishers to expand their revenue options. With AdSense for search, Hogan can provide readers with the power of Google search, and at the same time generate additional revenue to support his site.
"AdSense for search performs extremely well. It gives us an exceptional click-through rate of 10 percent and generates 10 to 20 times the clicks of a job search service we've tried," he says. "Plus, by using Google site search, I can now drive traffic to content on ScienceDaily that visitors might not find otherwise."
In all, Hogan has found that Google helps him help others who are interested in the latest science and technology breakthroughs. "We offer an invaluable service to students, technologists, or even people with diseases who want to know about medical breakthroughs," says Hogan. "AdSense in all of its forms has been a great way to compensate us for our efforts. We've been extremely pleased with how AdSense is working for us."
